Here they are -- the new drugs approved by FDA in 2013 as covered by Chemical and Engineering News. The total number, 27, represented a significant drop from the 39 approved in 2012, and te population is very much enriched for small molecules rather than large. But at least 7 of the newbies have blockbuster potential according to the analysts.
Likely, this reflects the timing of the pipeline more than anything else but it does tend to suggest that any idea that the R&D problem in Big Pharma is "solved" is a premature call to make.
