If you watch the stock market at all in the biotech sector, you should know that biotech IPOs have been much more numerous and successful so far in 2013. There have already been 24 to date -- about the same number as for all of 2012.
Luke Timmerman today recaps this a bit in his BioBeat column in Xconomy and also cues us in to the fact that 5 more biotechs are on deck for imminent IPOs themselves -- the roster being Agios Pharmaceutical, Cellular Dynamics, Heat Biologics, Conatus Pharmaceuticals and OncoNova. He also cautions that the good news is that these IPOs are happening. The bad news is that these IPOs are happening. His point being that if these don't live up to expectations, we can wait for another bust cycle sooner than we may think. Nothing like scared general investors to suck the energy out of a market sector.
