The Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) K1 cell line genome has been sequences by a consortium of researchers (China based BGI and US based GT Life Sciences) and has now been published in Nature Biotechnology (you can follow link below to reach paper).
CHO genome sequenced to boost bioproduction.
The sequence will help companies like SAFC Biosciences to design its zinc finger nucleases (ZFNs) to manipulate specific genetic targets in CHO. This will be an aid to cell engineering methods. It will also allow for better deployment of "omics" tools for CHO K1.
