Here's a few articles from yesterday on a variety of vaccine topics - a subject that continues to heat up as more efforts are made from developer/manufacturers and public groups like the Gates Foundation who are trying to increase their distribution and use.
From the PharmaTech Talk blog, more coverage oof several Big Pharma vaccine maker's willingness to cut prices to increase distribution in the developing world by workign with GAVI. The cuts will help enable distribution of vaccines to 16 developing countries.
From Fierce Biotech, we have coverage that Novartis' new meningitis B vaccine, Bexsero, can protect against about 80 percent of the MenB strains found in Europe. There currently is no effective vacine for MenB and this Novartis vaccine can be used in children under one when they ar emost vunerable to infection.
Fierce Biotech also reports that Sanofi is having success with a new vaccine against Dengue Fever. This would be th efirstever vaccine developed against Dengue which affects more that 220 million worldwide. The vaccine is being tested in 15 countries and could be approved by 2014.
