Lonza says it will further expand its biomanufacturing facility in Slough, UK at a cost of 16 million pounds. The expansion will add a new fermentation suite, new purifications suites, new process development labs, and a new GMP warehouse.
Lonza invests in biomanufacturing.
The Slough unit houses Lonza's Biopharmaceutical Center of Excellence offering mammalian cell line development, upstream and downstream process development and a broad range of analytical testing and characterization services. The site employs 650.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2012. The expansion is expected to allow Lonza to meet the immediate and future manufacturing needs of its clients - both established and emerging. The expansion will help meet the growing demands of new biologics coming on line.
