As reported in PBR, Amgen has completed its acquisition of BioVex. The latter will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amgen. With the acquisition, Amgen will gain access to the investigational oncolytic vaccine, OncoVex, that is currently in phase III trials for the treatment of head and neck cancer and melanoma.
As reported in January, Amgen wil pay $425 million in cash and up to $575 million in additional milestone payments bringing the deal's potential to $1 billion.
