Bernahard O. Paulsson, Ph.D, Professor, BioEngineering at the University of California, San Diego will present The Genome of CHO K1 at IBC's 26th Annual Antibody Development and Production meeting. The meeting will be held March 16-18, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bellevue, WA.
In his abstract, Dr. Paulsson notes that 25% of all FDA approved drugs are biopharmaceuticals and CHO cells are the production system of choice. Additionally, there are 130 FDA approved biologics, an estimated 700 biologics in development and 150-200 in late stages. The CHO-K1 line is an ancestor to many production cell lines. Paulsson (and collaborators) will present the full genome sequence of this cell line and describe its properties.
