J&J is seeking unspecified damages in response to the Merck-Schering-Plough takeover/reverse merger (depending on what side you take) and is also seeking to dissolve its partnership with Merck for selling Remicade/Simponi.

No matter how this shakes out, Merck is filing notice now that the decision could have material effects on its near term financial position and operations. Calmer heads will seek to prevail in settlement discussions.
