A new report by Global Industry Analysts predicts that the market size of biologic drugs in 2015 will reach $158 B. The report believes biologics will grow faster as they "are more resilient to economic cycles than traditional small molecules".
I think biologics will grow based on what's in the pipeline now and with the advent of ADCs for example to allow product life to be extended or repositioned. Longer term (not much beyond 5 years), I don't buy into concept that there won't be developing intense competition for biologics just as there is for small molecules.
