Andrew Lansley, the UK's Health Secretary, announced that a new 50 million pound fund would be created beginning in October to improve access of NHS patients to new cancer drugs.

The announcement was made following the issuance of a new report that shows the UK lags behind other European nations in the uptake of new cancer medications.
