Genzyme's embattled CEO may be coming to the end of his [formerly] distinguished 25 year career if Icahn gets himself and his board placed via a proxy fight. Given Genzyme's extreme manufacturing difficulties this year, resulting in plant shutdowns, patient supply issues - possibly leading to patient deaths, FDA fines and generally bad publicity for the company, this would seem inevitable if Icahn wins.
