The Hindu reported that research budgets to support biotechnology for the upcoming fiscal year will be increased by 32% for the Department of Biotechnology in the Ministry of Science and Technology. This increase passed even in the wake of current controversies surrounding Bt brinjal that you likely have read. This increase is consistent with announced goals to make 2010-2020 the Decade of Innovation.
